Laboratory & Research Applications

Type II standard.
Type I on demand.

The SD5 delivers consistent Type II laboratory grade water as standard — and parts-per-billion Type I purity with the mandatory 2-stage DI configuration. Verifiable. On demand. Without the maintenance burden of a steam distiller.

Two configurations

Choose the purity level your application requires

Standard Configuration

SD5 — 5-Membrane RO

1–3 ppm
Typical output · Type II/III equivalent

Five reverse osmosis membranes with a dedicated 2-gallon pure water flush tank that backwashes all membranes on every cycle. Eliminates TDS Creep and bacteria — delivering consistent Type II/III grade water without the electricity cost of a steam distiller.

Suitable for:
General laboratory use Buffer preparation Glassware rinsing Media preparation Autoclave water Equipment cooling
DI Configuration

SD5 + 2-Stage Deionization

< 0.1 ppm
Parts-per-billion · Type I equivalent

The SD5's 5-membrane RO output feeds a mandatory 2-stage mixed-bed deionization system — delivering Type I equivalent ultrapure water. The RO pre-treatment dramatically extends DI resin life compared to running tap water through DI directly.

Required for:
HPLC mobile phases Mass spectrometry Molecular biology Cell culture Atomic absorption Trace metal analysis

Why the SD5

Consistent purity. Verifiable output. No surprises.

  • Consistent Type II/III output — no TDS Creep between cycles
  • No bacteria — dedicated flush tank eliminates membrane stagnation
  • 75 to 100 gallons per day — enough for high-volume lab environments
  • No proprietary parts — standard filters available from multiple suppliers
  • No monthly descaling or tank sanitizing
  • DI resin lasts significantly longer than tap-fed DI systems
  • Free phone support for installation and setup
  • Optional 2-stage DI upgrade for Type I equivalent output

Typical output verification

Municipal tap water input 420 ppm TDS
SD5 standard output 1 ppm TDS
SD5 + DI output < 0.1 ppm TDS
Contaminant removal 99.95%+

Results verified with calibrated TDS meter. Actual output varies with source water quality and membrane condition.
