Could it pay for itself?

Depending on your family and how much water you drink daily — the SD5 could pay for itself real fast.

The electricity savings are real

Automatic steam distillers are energy intensive — your unit takes about 4 hours to make a single gallon of pure water, requiring significant electricity day after day, year after year. The SD5 doesn't boil water — it "fresh-squeezes" it instead!

The more people in your household and the more water you drink daily, the faster those savings add up. For many families the SD5 pays for itself in electricity savings alone — before you even count the time and effort saved on monthly maintenance.

Important note for demand pump users

Thinking of adding a demand pump to feed your ice maker and kitchen tap?

Many automatic distiller owners add a demand pump so they can conveniently supply their ice maker and provide a tap at the kitchen sink. Gravity feed water dispensing won't work with automatic ice makers — and a demand pump seems like the obvious solution. WARNING: Once you wait a little too long to sanitize your storage tank and bacteria gets into the distribution line running to your ice maker and kitchen sink pure water tap — that bacteria will continue to grow more and more regardless of any future tank sanitizing. Your water will not only be unsafe but will also taste bad. And you still cannot locate pure water taps around your home in convenient locations that support your busy active lifestyle. And with a distiller you are stuck with proprietary service and maintenance parts from one supplier.

The SD5 is pressurized — it feeds your ice maker and any number of pure water taps throughout your home, with no bacteria risk and no storage tank to sanitize. Although we use RO technology, the SD5 has none of the bacteria or TDS Creep problems of all other RO drinking water systems — because we flush the membranes with 1.5 gallons of purified water each time the unit cycles off.
